My seat's been taken by some sunglasses
Asking 'bout a scar
Obviously they are lovers. He is late in meeting her. The sunglasses are a metaphor for some Joe-cool dude who is talking to her (sitting where he should be), asking her why she's sitting alone looking disappointed. She's telling him about how the last time they were together he scarred her (emotionally). He then talks about how he's tripping over himself trying to make it up to her (take it back), but can't. So if she is still hurting (drinks herself silly) he will carry her home because he at least owes her that much.

Asking 'bout a scar
Both wrong. They are lovers. She obviously was waiting for him to show up. Was late. And some GQ, Joe-cool, sunglasses wearing (metaphor) dude is now talking to her and she's telling him about how this guy has hurt her months ago. The following verses explain how he's tripping over himself trying to take it back, and will carry her home because he owes her that.
