Schiller was Christian and his lyrics are those of a Christian honoring God's inspiration in Beethoven's music, who was also Christian. It is a celebration of the joy of salvation, with many references to Scripture, which will only be caught by Christians who have chosen to > "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15

Beethoven was a Christian and he was celebrating his salvation, regardless of his issues in this natural world.
