Meaning
I think the song's deeper meaning is quite mean. Because the other reindeer only liked him because he helped Santa. In my opinion they were quite vain and never gave poor Rudolph a chance. If he hadn't had helped they would have still hated him and would have never accepted him because of the way he looked. That is quite mean because he just looks different than them. No one ever thought to think he was special; that his gift is special. The reindeers should have welcomed Rudolph to their games. So this song is quite stupid in a way it expresses how people only like someone if somebody else like them. It doesn't contribute to the modern day thoughts on equality and they hated him until he was useful. That violates human right laws on equality and freedom. That is why this song is mean and cruel with the horrible meaning of... you guessed it: Judge people by how they look and what they do. A horrible way to make people feel horrible about themselves and feel that they're incomplete when you are yourself. The maker is a bully that just made a pointless song about stupid reindeers. Bye. ^.^

Explanation
"
Then one foggy Christmas Eve,
Santa came to say,
Rudolph with your nose so bright,
Won't you guide my sleigh tonight
It means that Santa went to Rudolph and asked him to guide his sleigh because it was too foggy for Santa to navigate and to deliver presents.
