This song is a drug song and it is about Sid, the leader of Pink Floyd, when he did drugs and when he was very crazy when he took these drugs. But, this song has a very good theme to it. The theme of this poem is that you should never do drugs for any reason. This entire song is about when he was on this drug and he couldn't feel anything and could barely talk to anyone. Also, there are many examples of figurative language in this song to show that he was a very messed up man after taking this kind of drug. Sid also had mental issues as well as doing drugs. Therefore, this song has a very good theme to it and is a very good song in general.

When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye

I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown
The dream is gone
I... Have become comfortably numb
This verse is explaining before he took the drug and when he was a kid he saw something out of the corner of his eye that was very weird but when he looks, there is nothing there. He doesn't understand why but, that was all a dream and that now he did this, he is comfortably numb. This is an example of an illusion when he sees something that really wasn't there or that it real in the first place.

Just a little pin prick
There'll be no more aaaaaaaah!
But you may feel a little sick

Can you stand up?
I do believe it's working
Good
That'll keep you going through the show
Come on
It's time to go

Just nod if you can hear me
Is there anyone home?

I can ease your pain
Get you on your feet again

Relax
I'll need some information first
Just the basic facts
Can you show me where it hurts?
