I think the Sydney (singer), is trying to say that the girl is not popular and everyone else is popular and she is the only one in the background. Also, when they say "and they all got the same heartbeat, but hers is falling behind" they are just making fun of that girl (not that the band is). It's just that the song is about someone being like the cool kids and someone wanting to be like the cool kids.
