Olivia Newton-John – A Little More Love lyrics
(John Farrar)
Night is draggin' her feet
I wait alone in the heat
I know, know that you'll have your way
Till you have to go home
No's a word I can't say

Cause it gets me nowhere to tell you no
And it gets me nowhere to make you go
Will a little more love make you start depending
Will a little more love bring a happy ending
Will a little more love make it right?
Will a little more love make it right?

Where, where did my innocence go?
How, how was a young girl to know?
I'm trapped, trapped in the spell of your eyes
In the warmth of your arms
In the web of your lies

But it gets me nowhere to tell you no
And it gets me nowhere to make you go
Will a little more love make you start depending
Will a little more love bring a happy ending
Will a little more love make it right?
Will a little more love make it right?

The man she's singing to is married.
He has to go home to his family.
She knows she shouldn't yield to him,
but wonders if, By surrendering to him fully,
he might stop needing to go home to his wife,
and become truly hers(fairytale happy ending).
It's not clear whether she believes she loves him, but she knows there's something about him or the situation that she finds irresistible,
and that the anguish of being the other woman is a blow to her self-esteem, that he can never stay the night, leaving her in a cold bed with dirty sheets.
She laments the loss of her innocence, caught in an adulterous affair, clinging to the false promises that just a little more time,
and he won't need to go home any more(stop depending on his wife).
It's the classic Other Woman dilemma.

This song, "A Little More Love" is about an abused woman by a man who is possessive in a relationship. Just look at the lyrics. It's a great song with a great beat but it's sad. She can't tell him no because he controls her, that's why she says, "Where did my innocence go" and she feels trapped but she still feels physical love for him but she realizes he's no good for her, "The web of your lies..." I've been in a relationship like that and got out. The saddest part is that the irony of the song is the man will never be happy, a liitle more love won't bring a happy ending because he's possessive and controlling and can't allow himself to love so he tortures the woman he loves instead.
