Florence + The Machine – Breaking Down lyrics
All alone,
It was always there you see.
And even on my own,
It was always standing next to me.

I can see it coming from the edge of the room.
Creeping in the streetlight.
Holding my hand in the pale gloom.
Can you see it coming now?

Aaaaaahhh...
I think I'm breaking down again...
Aaaaaahhh...
I think I'm breaking down...

All alone,
Even when I was a child,
I've always known,
There was something to be frightened of.

And I can see it coming from the edge of the room.
Creeping in the streetlight.
Holding my hand in the pale gloom.
Can you see it coming now?

Aaaaaahhh...
I think I'm breaking down again...
Aaaaaahhh...
I think I'm breaking down...

All alone,
On the edge of sleep,
My old familiar friend
Comes and lies down next to me.

And I can see it coming from the edge of the room.
Smiling in the streetlight.
Even with my eyes shut tight,
I still see it coming now.

Aaaaaahhh...
I think I'm breaking down again...
Aaaaaahhh...
I think I'm breaking down again...
Aaaaaahhh...
I think I'm breaking down again...
Aaaaaahhh...
I think I'm breaking down...

I had a couple of experiences that this song accurately describes. For example, and to make a long story short, one experience was when I was in lima, lying in a bed, not fully asleep, not fully awake, but very aware of my surroundings. I saw something, a shadowy figure, standing by the wall, looking at me, or at least, I felt it was as it was more a shadow. It crept it's way slowly closer and closer to me eventually lying down next to me and caressing me gently. The light from the street was shinning in the room. It's very uncanny that this song depicts my experience. And I only really made the connection when I saw her perform live in auburn wa. I don't know why I'm sharing this, maybe, to see if anybody knows if she, florence, or the song write - not sure if it was someone else, had a similar experience.
