Charley Pride – Down On The Farm lyrics
Looking back a hundred years
On daughters and sons of the land
Who're standing here, holding a fistful of dirt
Watching it slip through my hands

See the fields of sweat and tears
Where we labored in love
We cursed the wind and we prayed for rain
But never thought of giving it up

Oh, down on the farm
Oh, somebody's dreams are ending
When a way of life can be auctioned off
There's more than one fence that needs bending

It looks like to me, this country still needs
A muscle and two strong arms
If we can send a man up to the moon
We can keep a man down on the farm

Staring out of this factory window
Trying to make sense of it all
I remember on this very spot, corn standing ten feet tall
America, America, who do we blame it on?
It was only the family fund, who really cares if it's gone

Oh, down on the farm
Oh, somebody's dreams are ending
When a way of life can be auctioned off
There's more than one fence that needs bending

It looks like to me, this country still needs
A muscle and two strong arms
If we can send a man up to the moon
We can keep a man down on the farm
America, America, who do we blame it on?

As a young boy I lived with my widowed father & brother bob on a farm block in northern nsw, where we learnt to respect the land in drought & flood we accepted these events. As man doesn't rule mother earth we are only custodian&live as my god wants us in peace with mother nature instead of trying to steal short cut her way. Man has alot to answer for his inhuman act on other folk where ever they live. Greed & destruction of this world has gone too far why for all man kind we live in peace with one & other instead of killing our brother & sister we are humans intelligent not cave dweller, animal respect each other we fall far from that ideal do un to your brother& sisters. This greed & power games must stop. When we human come to our demise not one cent will take with us onto the journey of our spirit to face our maker & each of us so called humans will be judged on our deeds on earth rights & wrong we have committed towards our fellow man, there are many mansion god has prepared for us each & every one who's journy in spirit will keep moving to the promise land in heaven, again i"ll be united with my mum, dad brothers uncles & aunts & my dear love daphne & horses rocket, trooper crag's gold & willie(village kid) thank you who ever you are remember we are all a family of man.
