the whole album "the black parade" is supposed to have a hope and courage, anti-suicide and anti-violence type of theme. on mcr's website, http://mychemicalromance.com/, they (meaning the band) state that it has been one of their missions as a band to bring comfort, support, and solace to their fans and that the message and theme of their album, "The Black Parade" is hope and courage. check out their website, http://mychemicalromance.com/ and click on news and scroll down to their live video where they sing "Dead!" at a concert, and below that is the message from them that i am referring to. please read it. =] and also, i agree with blackparade94. i also saw that video on youtube. =D |

i always thought this song was about someone who had a really crappy friend considering the lyrics: Well you can hide a lot about yourself
But honey what are you gonna do?
And you can sleep in a coffin,
But the past ain't through with you.(you), and Sometimes your scraping sinks so low,
I'm shocked at what you're capable of.
And if this is a coronation,
I ain't feeling the love.
and when that crappy "friend" dies, they are happy..? hence the lyrics: 'Cause we all wanna party when a funeral ends.

And we all get together when we bury our friends.
[Ba ba ba, ba ba baaa]
and i thought the second part of the chorus was meant to be sarcastic. you know like, it's been 10 fu**in years since i've been seein your face, and i will "drown in the fear"...? haha i don't know, doesn't it kind of sound like it could be sarcastic to you?
also, i think he's saying that no matter what, that crappy "friend" couldn't do anything to ruin his life hence the lyrics: You'll never take me alive, you'll never take me alive.
Do what it takes to survive 'cause I'm still here.
i don't know. haha but i love this song so much and if that is the real meaning of this song, i can definately relate! =D
