From my understanding it's about two people who were in an "on again off again" relationship if you will, and they finally split. Possibly, there was a cheater within the relationship, and he/she is letting him/her that that person is fine without them, maybe to make them jealous or angry. He/she or both, just want to "take it back", as in wishing and forgetting it happened. Beautiful song really, :]
