This song is one of Taylor's most poetic songs. This song is so obviously written about her now infamous Grammy acceptance speech that was interrupted by Kanye West. This is pointed out with the lyric "32 and still growing up now" This is Taylor almost forgiving Kanye for the humiliation he brought upon her. She was very humiliated by the incident, and therefore rarely spoke out about it, and this is her way of getting out what she needed to say. She says that she understands Kanye made a mistake, and that he probably didn't intend to humiliate her, and that all of us are guilty of doing things we regret and that we cringe at while we are lying awake at night. This is Taylor forgiving Kanye and saying that maybe one day they can move past this, and be friends. Everyone makes mistakes, and tomorrow's a brand new day to start over. Thank you Taylor for one of my favorite songs to date.

Everyone of us has messed up too
Minds
Everyone is no stranger to mistakes, we have all messed up at one point or another in our lives. Even when we mess up, it's important to realize that everyone else has too, and we are not alone.

your balance on a tight rope
Oh, it's never too late to get it back.
This is a clever lyric of Taylor's. We all make mistakes and we all "lose our balance" but it's never too late to try and regain our balance. This song is written about Kanye West, and how he interrupted Taylor during her acceptance speech. After this incident, Kanye received lots of backlash for his actions. This brought on a low point in Kanye's career, but Taylor is saying that it's never to late to regain your balance, or in this case, it's never too late for Kanye and Taylor to make up.

it's alright just wait and see your string of lights are still bright to me
Oh
This is Taylor's way of saying that even though he did humiliate her, his "string of lights is still bright to her" She was obviously humiliated by him interrupting her, but this is her way of saying that she doesn't think less of him as a person.

is never too late to
Be brand new

Oh
Today is a new day with new chances to grow, and it's never too late to start over and be "brand new" This is Taylor's way of telling Kanye that she knows he made a mistake, but it's never to late to change his views and attitudes, and today gives him the chance.

Did some things you can't speak of
But at night you'll live it all again
You wouldn't be shattered on the floor now
If only you had seen what you know now then
We all do things we aren't proud of, and out of embarrassment we refuse to speak of them. However when we lay awake at night, they all come back to us and we continue to play it over and over and over. If we could have seen what we know now and apply it to our past mistakes, we would not be "shattered on the floor now" More specifically, to the Kanye West incident, if both Taylor and Kanye had seen what were to happen from him interrupting her, and the incident itself, they both could have avoided it, and avoided the embarrassment suffered by both of them.

Oh, who you are is not where you've been
This line is one of the best set of lyrics Swift has ever written. This line is saying, that who we are as individuals is not defined by "where we've been." Everyone makes mistakes, it's only human. But those mistakes do not define who we are as individuals. We are not our mistakes. More specifically, this is Taylor's way of forgiving Kanye for interrupting her acceptance speech, and understanding that yes, he did make a mistake, but that does not make him a bad person.
