Wow, I'm going to miss Ryan and Jon. I mean, all for seeing the new Panic!, but I'll still miss them. These lyrics rock, though, and I'm about to go listen to hte song which I'm sure also kicks ass.
The meaning of this song is pretty clear to me... living life in a New Perspective, bettering yourself, that sorta deal. It's encouraging.

You people who are refering to "the boyfriend" as Brendon, do know that Ryan Ross was the lyricist (and guitarist) of Panic! until he left just very recently, right? Brendon didn't write the lyrics xD So I think by "the boyfriend", you mean Ryan. |

I have to agree with Lpluv on the thing with Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy sounding like Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco. I was playing a few songs for my guitar teacher the other day, and I played "London Beckoned Songs About Money Written By Machines", and he asked if it was by Fall Out Boy. I actually never noticed until he mentioned it, but they do sound alike!
Anyway...
I think this song goes with "I Constantly Thank God For Estabon" ...or something like that, I usually get that last word/name (?) wrong. Both of the songs seem to be talking about the music industry and how it's not so great as people would believe. |

I love this song. I just started guitar lessons a few days ago, and this is going to be the first song I'm going to learn to play. Now, if only I had a decent singing voice... xPP
This is my favorite Michael Jackson song... at least, one of them. There are too many awesome ones to just pick one.
It's pretty simple to see the story to it. Diana is offering sex in exchange for someone to make her a star, and she ends up throwing herself at Michael. I cannot tell weather or not this is supposed to stand for something though. Possibly things/people in life trying to bring you down, for their own advancement? Not sure x[ I still love it.
Rest in Peace Michael Jackson, King of Pop. I'm fifteen years old, and I'm a huge MJ fan! |

He wants a relationship to work ("I wanna run with you I don't care waht we do"), but the same things are happening as in another ("gotta get out of this place because it feels like yesterday"). He has to face his problems instead of ignoring them ("I think I'm running away I can't keep running away"), and he can't keep feeling like crap, and he shouldn't be taking all the blame for the failing relationship ("Can't keep feeling the same I can't keep taking the blame"). |

Wow, I was just watching this for the first time on youtube, and the lyrics seemed to describe what I was going through when my last ex dumped me. Then I saw the date the video was uploaded was March 17th, 2009 and the guy broke up with me March 16th, 2009. So that was like fate or something. It fits really well. I'm really glad I found this band. I had thought Frank Iero was just the guitarist in it, but he's actually the singer/front man, which is why I checked them out, and they're awesome. |

I think it's like someone talking to the Patient. Probably a doctor, but like one who knows him well. But it's talking to him either when he's on his death bed or actually dead, the second making more sence.
Saying how he was a pretty bad person when he was alive (maybe paired with House Of Wolves, because it talks about how he was trying to figure out if he would go to heaven or hell, because he'd sinned, and he ends up thinking he's going to hell?). Because they say "did you get what you deserve?" like 'did karma come back to bite you?' Maybe the "you never fell in love" part is saying how the Patient never fell in love, he just hurt those who loved him.
And they're saying how like at his funeral no one really had anything nice to say because he wasn't a good man; they didn't like him all too much. But then maybe they miss him, because it says "wouldn't it be great if we were dead?" like they want to be dead so they can see him again. And "is that the most the both of you can give", might be his close ones yelling at the doctors for not being able to save him
That's my take on it. =]
Awesome song though, and my favorite band ever. |

Just gotta say that this song is so, so, so addicting! I love this band!
Anyway, I think it's basically about this girl he broke up with, because they're all the same, they get distracted by his fame and the way people are staring at them now that they're on his arm, and they basically don't love him, but his fame.
Like he says "this whole routine is getting old", and "you're all the same", so that's like him saying "this is happening too many times, all these girls are the same.
"You like the way the people stare at you now, You look so fake..." is when he's talking about how the girls always get caught up in his fame, and not him in himself.
"You set yourself up to be sold, And that's okay 'cause that's your role, Manipulation takes it toll, What will you do when nobody wants you?" is him saying how the girls are always trying to be "sold", like in a magazine or news article or whatever. And he's saying that it's okay because that's basically just their role, because that's what they all do. And then he's saying that the results of their actions are coming up, like him dumping her, and he's just like asking 'what will they do when nobody wants them?', because nobody will even care about the girl now that she's not with someone in a famous band.
"I know I stood so long beside you, And I know I should have left you right where I had found you" is where he's saying he regrets staying with her so long when he knew she wasn't in it for him but his status, and he's wishing he had never gotten into a relationship with her because this sort of thing always happens.
This song really shows you the difficulties of being famous. Like most people just think that it's a walk in the park, and it must be so fun when everyone knows your name and face and admire you. But in reality, it's pretty rough, and when things like relationships get ruined because of it, it just sucks. It shows also, how shallow people can get, and how easily hearts can be broken.
You've really gotta applaude The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus on this one. Two thumbs up and standing ovations, people! They rock! |

I think it's about how he's really depressed now that someone, I'm guessing an old girlfriend, is out of his life now. And he's saying how his life is so pitiful now, like he can't even make breakfast, or remember to bring bus money.
So he wants to end his life, and he's basically saying "I can't see why I shouldn't, do you?" And he's so depressed that he's using drugs to try and cope, and he's not doing those ones, sure, but he's saying don't be fooled: he's not doing it out of concern for himself, it's just because he can't afford them at the time being.
Then he goes on to say how he saw her, but that she doesn't care about anything that has to do with him. Maybe, and I'm not at all sure about this bit at all, but I'm thinking that he's saying she doesn't care that he's got addicted to drugs and that he's suicidal... Now on to something I'm more sure about, he's saying next that usually when someone heas a bad day, they think 'I'll be better in the morning', but he's saying that he knows he wont be better. And he says "that's all", like "that's all my life is now. Nothing much; pitiful." He feels like he's dying, or is seriously thinking of suicide at this point.
And then it goes back to how pitiful his life is, the drug abuse, and then he emphasizes how pitiful it is in a way by just repeating 'pitiful' over and over.
So there's my take on this song. I really like it, and Sick Puppies is just awesome. =] |

I love this song so much! And Saosin is awesome, with both Anthony AND Cove!
I think that this song is about how he's taking on the seven years of misery, or emotional unease, by himself because not even the "holy ghost" could help. And he's saying "test his arms", so maybe that means he was having so much trouble that he hurt himself, like cut his arms, and he "kicked like crazy" because he didn't want people to see it, and he's saying that he's been trying to get through this for too long, and maybe that means he should give up, and he's sorry that he's not sure.
He's saying that maybe it IS the end, and he needs to get this off his chest, and end this story. And maybe he's trying not to show that it's hurting him, but someone sees it, and he's saying "his eyes see too clear".
And then he's saying he's faking happiness, to "staple the eyes" shut and make it so that person can't see that he's hurting. And he's saying that it was a mistake to let someone go, and that he's realizing that he can't go on without that person, so he's trying to just "sell machines", like maybe act like a robot? Emotionless, I mean. He's trying to act emotionless and just tear on.
Then he goes on to say how for however long that other person was in his life, she assured him that it would all be okay if he just complied, listened to her. And that he fought her, and things just, didn't work.
And then, once more, he's saying he's sorry, but that she can't treat him like he's to blame, and he's saying that she can't say that he ever accused you, like he's accepting that it's his fault.
That's what I think, at least. I looove this one, one of my favorites by Saosin! |

Location: My Chemical Romance - It's Not A Fashion Statement, It's A Fucking Deathwish lyrics
| posted: Apr 13, 2009 at 06:04 PM
Okay, when I’m trying to explain how I interpret the lyrics, I’m saying “he”, and “him”, and “his” a lot. By that, I’m talking about each and every member of the band, because most of them helped write the song, so it’s probably about a bit of all of them. And because I don’t think they all faced these things together, you know, like all in a group at a school. I think these things probably happened to each of them a bit, and then they exaggerated out the events to send the message of it out better.
So, I think this is supposed to be about their high school lives a bit, while also about other people who they know and don’t know who went through the same thing in high school, and some who are going through it now. So, here’s what I think:
---
"For what you did to me
And what I'll do to you
You get, what everyone else gets
You get a lifetime"
I'm thinking that he's saying that all the people who hurt him will be punished. the lyric "you get a lifetime" makes me think he's using the metaphor of a court of law, and the sentence of a lifetime in prison as a punishment, and the "and what I'll do to you" lyric is like him saying he'll testify against them. But in reality, it's not a court of law, it's a principal's office in a high school, and they're not getting a lifetime sentence, they're getting like a suspension or detention, but since he says life time, I think they were so horrible to him they get like expelled.
"Do you remember back then when we met
You told me this gets harder, well, it did
Been holding on forever
Promise me that when I'm gone, you'll kill my enemies"
So I'm thinking he's talking about the beginning of the school year, when he met his tormentors. They told him "this gets harder", like they make life harder for him, and he's saying "well, it did", like they were right, it did get harder. "Been holding on forever", he's saying that like he's been grinning and bearing it for the longest of times. And the last part "promise me that when I'm gone, you'll kill my enemies", I think is him saying that they're all two-faced. Like one minute they're saying "we hate you so we'll torture you" and then when no one is looking ("when I'm gone") they go after the ones that are being mean to him, so they're contradicting themselves in a way by doing that, and he's saying this for the purpose of showing that they are two-faced.
"The damage you've inflicted, temporary wounds
I'm coming back from the dead
Well I'll take you home with me
I'm taking back the life you stole"
I think he's saying that the pain they caused him is temporary, that the visibility of the wounds will go away, but you can make an educated guess that there will always be a sort of scar there, because if there wasn't, he wouldn't be out for revenge. Heck, he wouldn't have felt the need to write a song about it. "I'm coming back from the dead", is him saying that he's getting over it, healing. "Well, I'll take you home with me" makes me think that they're trying to make friends with each other, you know, 'keep your friends close but your enemies closer'. And the lyric "I'm taking back the life you stole" is him saying he's going to like, try and get his life back, the life they stole from him by making him into a social outcast.
"We never got that far
This helps me to think all through the night
Bright lights that, won't kill me now or tell me how
Just you and I, your starless eyes remain"
He's saying that their fake little friendship never really made it, because, well, it never would have had a chance because it was just there so they could get closer to each other for the purpose of causing the other some grief. "This helps me to think all through the night" is him saying that he's thinking of the situation all the time, and he's losing sleep over it; thus thinking all through the night. The "bright lights that, won't kill me now or tell me how" lyric is saying, like 'bright lights' as in a realization from thinking so long and hard about it all. And he's saying that the realization is that this won't kill him, he can get through it, but he's also saying that it won't tell him how to get through it. "Just you and I, your starless eyes remain" makes me think of like a one on one thing, like him against the one who is the most horrible to him. He's saying "your starless eyes remain" to show that his tormentor hasn't changed, he still has the same starless eyes. When you say that someone has starless eyes, you're saying that the person is fake, that they have no depth. Most people who are socially accepted in high school (just like his tormentor) have no depth to them and are very fake. So he's saying that through all this time his tormentor hasn't changed and he's still the same, fake, two-faced person.
"Hip hip hooray for me, you talk to me
But would you kill me in my sleep
Lay still like the dead, from the razor to the rosary
We could lose ourselves and paint these walls in pitchfork red"
He's being sarcastic by saying "hip hip hooray for me" because the popular people are talking to him. He doesn't want that, even though most outcasts would, because he knows they just want to get some dirt against him. "Would you kill me in my sleep?" is him expressing his suspicions on these socially accepted people, he's saying that he thinks that if he were to let his guard down they would stab him in the back, like killing one in their sleep. "Lay still like the dead" I think means that he's trying to go back to being just a normal outcast who isn't ever noticed by anyone, and therefore not tormented, just ignored. The lyric "from the razor to the rosary" is him saying there's not really any use in asking for help, I think. Or maybe that there is nothing to be thankful for. I think that's it because rosaries are used for prayer, and when you pray you're usually either thanking or asking for help. And he's talking about taking a razor to the rosary, like no more asking for help (like, from school officials) on this one, he's gotta do it on his own. "We could lose ourselves and paint these walls in pitchfork red", I think is him saying that they could lose themselves in these childish games they're playing, and he's saying things are getting exciting, that they're painting the place red.
"I will avenge my ghost with every breath I take
I'm coming back from the dead
Well, I'll take you home with me
I'm taking back the life you stole"
He's trying to get back at them, to avenge himself (seeing as no one else would do it for him). He's "coming back from the dead", this time not healing from what they did to him, but rather referring to the lyric before, "lay still like the dead", which I thought meant he wanted to go back to being socially dead, a normal outcast who's just ignored. But he's coming back from the 'dead' now, so he's done with letting himself be an outcast. And again, "I'm taking back the life you stole", he's trying once more to get his social life back.
"This hole you put me in, wasn't deep enough
And I'm climbing out right now
You're running out of places to hide from me"
He's saying that his tormentors didn't put him down deep enough, as in like ruin him enough, make him unaccepted enough that no one would talk to him. They didn't do that, the hole wasn't deep enough, and so now he's able to climb out. And in climbing out, he's climbing out of life as an outcast, making real friends and all. "You're running out of places to hide from me" means that his tormentors are starting to lose this battle, if you will, that they're all in.
"When you go, just know that I will remember you
If living was the hardest part, we'll then one day be together
And in the end we'll fall apart, just as the leaves change in color
And then I will be with you, I will be there one last time"
He's saying that when he finally wins, and his tormentors can no longer torment him, that he'll remember that they did, in fact, teach him to be strong. "If living was the hardest part, we'll then one day, be together", I think is him saying that if living life, and not just trying to fade into the back of things, is so hard then he'd end up with them again being tormented. And I think he's saying that he thinks that's what will happen the next school year, in the fall ("leaves change in color"), when he has to do this all over again. He'll be with them again, the tormentors; he's predicting that he'll be an outcast again. And then he says "I'll be there one last time now", like he's saying that, okay, he'll go through it again, but after that, that's it. He won’t be tormented as an outcast anymore after that; he'll learn to live from the beginning of things.
"When you go, just know that I will remember you
I've lost my fear of falling, I will be with you
I will be with you"
I think he's saying that he'll remember this lesson next year, even when his previous tormentors are gone, he'll remember that he learned how to be strong and get through it. He's saying that he can make it through it again, and he's not afraid of it, even though he knows it's gonna suck, he also knows that he'll make it.
---
So that's what I think the meaning of it is. I'm really sorry that it's so long and drawn out, but that was the only way I could really explain it.
Does it sound right? Or am I like nowhere near the meaning?
I'm in love with this song though, I like how it doesn't really follow the normal song structure, like with verses and choruses and a bridge. There aren't a whole ton of songs like this that I've heard, but that's what makes it so awesome. |

I agree with livlivliv18, and I'd like to add a bit to that idea:
"So now you're running
It's hard to see clearly
When I make you angry
You're stuck in the past
And now you're screaming
So can you forgive me?
I've treated you badly
But I am still here"
I think he got in a fight with her over the they-should-be-together thing. And he brought up her ex that broke her heart, and it made her angry, and now he wants her to forgive him, because, well, he wants them to be together.
Oh, and since these lyrics are wrong, and when I try correcting them it never works, I'm going to put the real lyrics in this comment:
---
So now you're running
It's hard to see clearly
When I make you angry
You're stuck in the past
And now you're screaming
So can you forgive me?
I've treated you badly
But I am still here
Sometimes I wonder
Why I'm still waiting
Sometimes I'm shaking
That's how you make me
Sometimes I question
Why I am still here
Sometimes I think I am going crazy
Can you help me understand?
And now you wish that you meant something
And now you wish that you meant something to somebody else
And now you wish that you met someone
And now you wish that you meant something to somebody else
(someone) (something to somebody else)
You look at me through clouded eyes
I know you see through my lies
See the sky, see the stars
All of this could be ours
Out of sight, out of mind
We've been through this a thousand times
Turn your back and then you make me feel so crazy
Can you help me understand?
And now you wish that you meant something
And now you wish that you meant something to somebody else
And now you wish that you met someone
And now you wish that you meant something to somebody else
You know I would wait forever
Yes, I would wait (I would wait)
You know I would wait forever
Yes, I would wait
And now you wish that you meant something
And now you wish that you meant something to somebody else
And now you wish that you met someone
And now you wish that you meant something to somebody else
And I'm the one that should mean something
But still you wish that you meant something to somebody else
Something to somebody else, something to somebody else

Okay, so here's what I think:
The chorus makes me me think that Derek is saying that it feels like everything is getting colder, maybe he's talking about the weather, but I think he's saying colder, like darker, more depressing. And "I'll have you know I'm scared to death, that everything you said to me was just a lie until you left" probably means he's thinking that everything that, most likely Katie, said to him, such as "I love you" or "you're the only one for me", was just a lie until she left him. And he's saying that everyone's listening just to see how he sounds, and probably not even getting the meaning of the song, which probably is him saying that no one understands what he's going through at that time. And he's expressing himself through a song, and the lyrics are basically describing his breakdown.
That's what I think. This song is just *amazing* in every way, the beat, vocals, lyrics... everything, amazing. Mayday Parade is just awesome. |

I really love this song though, it's one of my favorites by them. The end part is really great. I love the "How does he feel? How does he kiss? How does he taste while he's on your lips?"
I [once again] agree with Oh-Shit_Casey. You seem to know a lot about this band, I'm really glad you're posting on here -^.^-
I think this song is saying how he thought they'd last for so long, because it's talking about waiting for the snow, and it doesn't snow much in Gorgia. And he thought that he'd spend all his life with this girl, and with the "month of apart", when he was on tour I think, he thought after that would be the perfect time to propose, but then he found out that his girlfriend of five years had cheated on him.
It's really a sad song, but it's also really touching, especially for those who have been cheated on. I really love Derek's voice, it's so smooth and all around beautiful. He's one of my favorite singers without a doubt! |

I really love this song, it helped me when a girl cheated on me with her ex-boyfriend. We were friends before our relationship and still are, but it really hurt, because I had been the one to help her when she was broken up with by him, and I stopped her from hurting herself over it, then one day she said she was going to hang out alone one night, and someone told me she was with her ex, and then when I found out what they had been doing, this song just poped into my mind and then it was on constent replay for like two weeks.
It really helped me through it. |

I tried correcting them and then today I got an email that said my corrections had been accepted, so I came here to check it out, and the lyrics didn't change, they're still the same! Is anyone else annoyed by this? Because it's bugging the crap out of me!
Here are the real lyrics, seeing as corrections do no good right now:
---
I miss the part, when we were moving forward now
(On our way down)
But maybe someday, I'll be something more than love
Just know I'll never tell
And when you're on your way down
(Through the clouds)
And you're waiting for your body's re-entry again
We speak in different voices
When fighting with the ones we've loved
We speak in different voices
Why can't we say what we're thinking of
I'm missing parts, now that you've told me everything
(On our way down)
And I was blessed and I've forgotten how to love
You said you'd never tell
And when you're on your way down
(Through the clouds)
And you're waiting for your body's re-entry again
We speak in different voices
When fighting with the ones we've loved
We speak in different voices
Why can't we say what we're thinking of
Not even I will tell...
We speak in different voices
When fighting with the ones we've loved
We speak in different voices
We say these things to know they're real.
We speak in different voices
When fighting with the ones we've loved
We speak in different voices
Why can't we say what we're thinking of
We speak in different voices
When fighting with the one's we've loved
We speak in different voices
We speak in different voices
To know they're real. Real.
I'll never tell.
