I have translated the title as "The Heavens of Ireland, because this seems to be closest to the Italian sense, but it does make all the predicates plural which occasionally sounds awkward. There is a line that seems to refer to being abole to see the hair on the moon, which I take to be meant as praise for clear air, but it depends on the verb spuciare, which I am told refers originally to searching for fleas and by extension to examine. Please feel free to correct this, I have not had a moment to consult the better dictionary.

I worked out a translation of this song to make some sense out of it and because of the strong imagery in the parts that I could pick up easily. I'm not sure about a few parts of this so perhaps someone can improve on it. I get the idea that there is a story here that is not actually in the text, but I don't know what it is. With the opening lines one can imagine Italy winking out, leaving only a noisy kiss echoing in the darkness, but that does not seem to be the idea here. Please feel free to make corrections.

Ms. Nannini writes as people speak, in short phrases. These phrases do not necessarily make complete sentences, but we are used to hearing that. I was struck by this when I saw the song written out. It seemed to make some sense when sung but did not on the page so I have broken the line where her phrasing suggests. The English is intended to give a sense of what the line may mean, it is not a singable translation. There are two verses to this song, the first dealing with the richness of experience and the second with anticipation of some realization or result from all of it. Both verses lead to a chorus that tells of the nights without a heart or a name and looking for an exit form them to the most beautiful sea. The final section, a coda of sorts, is, on the recording, a musing on the beautiful sea and the abandoned nights. Please feel free to send corrections.
