This song is supposed to depict two fighting personalities of Sia. In the chorus of the song, she is saying how she is trying to be tough for someone else and this is the result of her own downfall. If you watch the music video this becomes more clear. Shia and Maddie both represent these two sides. Maddie is fighting her mental illness while Shia is trying desperately to help her and protect her from herself. This results in his own madness and he wind up trapped in his own mental illness.

Overall this song is eerie and touching. There is no pedophilia represented by the lyrics. It pure art in the form of words.
