I don't think this is about a suicide but it sounds like a frustrating break up between 2 friends. It seems they have 2 different life styles and cannot compromise. The girl feels that the guy is holding her back and she needs to move on to a better and more positive future without him. The music feels bitter sweet which translates to the lyrics. This is unfortunately a pretty common occurrence. Pretty similar to the lyrics to "Purple Rain". RIP Prince.
