I think the whole song is a metaphor. The wolf is temptation, and the lion is anger. The wolf, or temptation, lets the lion, or anger, in. Since anger is usually is driven by temptation, the lion is probably driven by the wolf. (I also think that the wolf is actually a dog, because in a line above it says "mocking man's best friend". The song writer probably used wolf instead to make it more like "temptation".). So the wolf/temptation/dog is causing the lion/anger to be envious.
