Sonny Boy Williamson apparently had made some mistakes in his past - in 1930 and 1938. There are more details in Hiding In The Spotlight, my upcoming book (due to be published in 2017). In 1930 he stole a mule, painted it white and got caught when the delta rain revealed his ruse and ended up in Parchman Farm. A year or so later he showed up in Helena Arkansas using a different name where based his highly visible musical career. He was hiding in the spotlight. In 1938 he apparently killed a white man in a knife fight, moved to Harrisburg Illinois, changed his name to Little Boy Blue and got a radio show five times a week on WEBQ a 50,000-watt clear channel radio station. Again he was hiding in the spotlight.
