Meaning
The song is about a friend of Tom Gabel's who was a bartender at a club that he frequented. They lost touch for a number of years until he had heard about his friend's death (she was actually murdered). Gabel returned for the funeral and spoke with the family who stated that friend was under the impression that Thrash Unreal was written about her, even though he stated it wasn't. Gabel had gotten a tattoo of this friend's name covered at one point, but after her death, had a new one put on (if I recall correctly).

Meaning
This song is about a church near Tom Gabel/Laura Jane Grace's home at one point that had many white crosses in the front lawn. The crosses were in protest to abortion. This song is a pro-choice anthem, of sorts, in stating that they want to "smash them all" (the white crosses).

If I could have chosen, I would have been born a woman
This is in reference to the fact that the lead singer of Against Me! was born Tom Gabel. Tom Gabel came out as a transgender woman in 2012. The following line "My mother once told me she would've named me Laura" is in reference to the name that she has become legally (Laura Jane Grace).

You can be almost anything
When you're on your fucking
You can be almost anything if you're willing to bow down to someone else to get it. Basically, instead of earning it on your own merit, you're able to be "almost anything" by giving in to someone else (whether by bowing down to them, or the more common "on your knees" way of moving up in the world, i.e. fellatio).
