This song is about a forbidden love. Something like a taboo. A Romeo-Juliet kind of love "They can never know all the blood we shed". Something that, in the end, would be a suffer. A tragedy: "We knew how this would end".
Still they're willing to take a shot: "Risk everything" and do the impossible to keep the love: "I'm screaming with my untaken breath".

In this song, the band took all the bad comments aimed at them, specially at Maria, and used them sarcastically in their song. They turn all the knives thrown at them and turn into this really powerful sword, creating a really sarcastic and ironic song. Like the comments they've become commercial "Barbie", or really sexually relied "Sex metal". As explained by the members, they're showing that all the hatred is actually people's own twisted view about the band.
They're basically saying: "Keep hating us, this only makes us raise our game". A middle finger song to all haters.
They wanted the sex metal barbie, I'll embrace it. And still make me more bada*s.

Maria herself explained the lyrics. She said this song was about hypocrisy and the judgement people would place on others(and the judgement that you placed on me, was a reflection of discovery). And in this song, she uses the word "WHORE" unexpectedly, as a empowerment. For example, people keep calling some women as whore ("I could be your whore"), though they might seem that they hate them, they actually created and needed them ("You love me for everything you hate me for").
So actually, the word WHORE becomes an empowerment, since it takes away the victim image and creates a heroine aura. From all the difficulties and disbelief placed on them, they emerged from the back of the car they should be lying dead.
