All relationships have secrets and communication issues. The tone of this lyric is a problem that exists within the two but no one will talk about it. She's begging him to tell her what's wrong. Knowing the truth will hurt but she should rather know than live in silence or hear it from someone else. This is the worst kind of relationship when one or both won't communicate.
