It was my decision to get clean, I did it for me
Admittedly I probably did it subliminally for you
So I could come back a brand new me, you helped see me through
And don't even realise what you did, believe me you
The most obvious piece of evidence right here that the song is about addiction... He did it for him: because you have to want it... Really want it. Have to be ready to turn your back and walk away entirely, because with something like this there is no halfway. He did it for himself, for sure, but he did it for us, his fans, and for his family and for all of the people that cared about him. He recognizes that he has grown into a stronger and better person as a result of the struggle, so some good comes out of the bad, and thanks the people who helped him... Because we all know there's nothing better than a supportive friend whose shoulder we can cry on or who will just offer quiet support in a time of need.

And I just can't keep living this way
So starting today, I'm breaking out of this cage
He knows that living a life as a junkie addict is no life. He can't keep living that way... He's breaking out of his cage and facing whatever comes his way... The only way to put his life back together is to change.

But I think I'm still tryna figure this crap out
Thought I had it mapped out but I guess I didn't
This fucking black cloud's still follow's me around
But it's time to exercise these demons
These motherfuckers are doing jumping jacks now
An addiction is something that you struggle with for life. Here he acknowledges that just because he's gotten clean, that doesn't mean his battle is over. Far from it, as a matter of fact. Instead, he knows that "black cloud" will follow him for probably the rest of his life, but he's too good to go back... And I love the play on words "exorcize" these demons vs. "exercise" - "Doin' jumping jacks now! ".

not afraid to take a stand
Everybody come take my hand
We'll walk this road together, through the storm
Whatever weather, cold or warm
Just let you know that, you're not alone
Holla if you feel that you've been down the same road

[Verse
He's not afraid to tell anyone what he's been through... He wants to help people, because he knows how dark of a place an addiction can be and how hard it can be to get out of. It's like digging your way out of a deep, deep hole of your own making. There's nothing more depressing, and you feel like you can't beat it. But knowing you're not alone helps, and he's saying, let it out, and if you've been down this road too, and made it back alive, be proud! And if you're still struggling... Well, you're not alone.

Meaning
He had an opiate problem, and successfully fought his way out of the soul stealing hell that can be. This whole song is a dedication to getting clean, fixing his life for his fans and his family, and of course himself. As someone who has personally been through the same struggle, I find this song so uplifting and heartfelt. If you've never battled an addiction to opioids, be it with pills (i.e. vicodin, oxycontin, dilaudid, percocet) or other opiates (i.e. morphine, methadone, fentanyl, and of course the biggest bad, Heroin), then I can see how you might not catch his exact meaning. But I assure you that's what he's on about. Pretty sure vicodin or oxycontin were his drug of choice. That stuff swallows your soul before you even have a chance to realize your soul was in danger. It tricks you into complacency, allows you to believe that you're fine, safe within the warm, comforting embrace of that opiate. By the time you realize how far gone you are, many people are unable to stop. I have lost more than one friend to this plague, to this epidemic called heroin that has our beautiful America caught so tightly in its grasp. Lost friends. And more years of my life than I would like to say. But getting clean is something to be proud of and Em certainly is. Well he should be. He's certainly one of the greatest rappers of the post-Tupac era. This song helped me beat my own addiction and is inspirational to anyone still "in that place." Bravo.
