I like the message. The 'tree' represents life as a deeply interconnected series of systems, and that an understanding this true reality could restore a new life to mankind, a species that has been self-destructive in the past, without this "higher understanding". Human beings are multiplying at an alarming rate. The lyrics call the audience to realize that continuously harming our own habitat has dire circumstances and could/will eventually trigger a planetary "self-destruct".
