This song talks about someone suffering through an addiction (we are not given what the person is addicted to). The person is prescribed this medicine, so they have to continually call the doctor to get more of it. Eventually it gets to the point where the person goes insane and needs the medicine as he starts to hear voices in his head and wants the medicine so much that he almost demands it from the doctor.

your home?
How'd you end up all alone?
Can you hear me now?

There's no light, there's no sound.
Hard to breathe, when you're underground.
Can you hear me now? Hear me now

Look into my eyes
Danny in this case is using metaphors. He's asking someone "where'd you go" and "where's your home," along with "how'd you end up all alone?" Then continuing to ask them if they can hear him. Light is used as a metaphor, as well as sound; it's used to create a feel of emptiness; and being underground is also a metaphor, for being under all the time. Then, he continues to ask people if they can hear him. That's my view point.

The song itself is a joke to death. The song takes lyrics that joke around about death, suicide, et cetera. Near the end of the song, it says "if life ain't just a joke, then why are we laughing?" Which lets out the joking feel of this song and what they were saying.

As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I wear my crown of thorns and pull the knife out my chest
These words are events and words from the Christian Bible. Jesus wore a crown of thorns before crucifixion. He also received a knife in his chest. The Bible states "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."
