The person in the poem must have been bullied or something by someone and stands up to him and tell's him that he's not as great as the thought he was. At the same time he reads something and thinks its something else and spreads it around and he gains fame and people are also after him because of that. Hence he's in over his head. He wants to leave this world but doesn't know how to. He doesn't kno what is real and what isn't anymore.

All lives will end some day, sooner or later. Many don't take it seroiusly and think they have their whole lives to make an impact. He must have been one of those people. He realise that he was not as great as he thought he was. One day he has a dream that he dies and no one remebers him after he dies. He realises that the person who will miss him the most is a girlfriend or wife. They must have had some rough patches, hence the line"forget the wrong i've done,dont resent me". He wants her to remeber him as a good person, he was never perfect. He wants her to also help him make that impact. He must have been somekind of addict hence pretending that someone will save him. He was never prefect just like everyone of us. In the video, it looks as if the band is about to break up and want people to remeber them, to forget the flops they had but keep in mind the good songs.
