The song really rings true for me. My Mom is over protective, always wanting me to be safe and never give into bad influences - but in order to break away, I tried to run away from home. Her overprotective nature forced me to run because I couldn't take it any more. My Dad, I'd seriously hate becoming like he is - I'm his best friend and the only guy really there for him. He told me once how he looks back on his life and hates giving up on his dreams and how he just went with the flow. It's seriously wore him down and I can see it. I can't become like them. I can't and I won't. That's why the song really rings true for me.

This is a song written by and for writers. The song captures perfectly what it means and how it feels to be a writer. That in order to capture the audience, we literally have to open up our scars every single time. That we have to bring out this broken soul we all carry around with us rather than let it heal like a lot of other people. Why do writers do this? To create authenticity, to put material on a page we know that we know the audience will relate to and in the end tell them that they're not alone by exposing everything within us.
