This song (to me) is in both Gloria and Christians point of view. From the beginning up until the first "sending all my love to you" is Christian. The lyrics change slightly starting with "with every breath that I'm worth" that is where Gloria takes over. Starting with the LAST "my beating heart belongs to you" is both Gloria and Christian. Both share strong feelings for each other, but they also state "IF I lose everything in the fire" showing that there is always that possibility to move on either way. This entire album has a story behind it (as did American idiot) and you have to have a VERY good ear to catch the whole story, but once you do it's an amazing story.

This song is about a man who has given almost everything for a girl. Yet, she hadn't done the same for him, she seems to love someone else, but he won't accept it and keeps trying to bring her back. It obviously doesn't work, now he is wondering if he does let her go, would the pain and "other" things still show. The song ends on a cliff hanger, the end is for you to decide.

This song seems to about and old man who hasn't gotten anything he wanted in his life, so he just drinks and is a dick to everyone. He thinks back to when he was young and had dreams that would get him somewhere in life. They didn't work out. To sum it up, this man is old and is unhappy with everyone and about everything.

He obviously is trying to shrug it off, but it's obviously not working. He try's to tell himself that is was a long time ago and she is gone, but he still wants whatsername. He wants whatsername! She is in his head, all he thinks about is her, but he knows that she is gone and regretting it is pointless.

Remember, whatever
It seems like forever ago
Remember, whatever
It seems like forever ago
The regrets are useless
In my mind
She's in my head
I must confess
The regrets are useless
In my mind
She's in my head
From so long ago

FIRST!!! Now that that's over...... This song really explains Ronnies life, but not the normal sad and depressing way. This really captures the way he feels now looking back on his life and how he should have dealed with it then. He sees now that he should've been optimistic and hopefull, his dreams could've and did get get him out of the "crappy" life he was living. I think this is a really good song.

I think this is related to part 1 of homecoming, where it seems that Jimmy is the savior, but in the end kills himself from all the stress. In this song "he" (not Jimmy) is addicted to a drug that is now getting old and useless to him now, he wants something strong, something that will get his mind off what is bothering him, even if it kills him. Jimmy seems to be the only person that could talk or scare him out of doing this to himself. In the end I hope he doesn't do this and gets the help he needs, though we know that's probably not the case.... Most people in this position don't learn until it's to late... I have had to watch some of my best friends do this, some didn't learn until the end.

Ok, so this song used to haunt me when I was a kid. Because of how well it was written, I understood it. This is an amazing song if you want to remember someone you lost or to help someone else cope for a loss. This song is down to earth and honest, it will help someone understand how growing up is not just for jokes and giggles, it will have its heart breaks and haunting moments. Loss will take its toll, depression will hurt you and break you down one day or another, but if you survive it all the way through. It shows how strong you (girl or guy) really are, just like you loved ones had to, you will die one day to, so you need to live you life as best you can now and not let these pains restrict you in the process, rather than hate life and when it's your time you beg for more time. Billie Joe lost his father (in September) he says at the beginning "like my fathers come to pass, 7 years have gone so fast" then at the end "20 years have gone so fast" he didn't let this pain drag him down for his entire life, if he would have done that his life would have felt as if time was at a crawl, he lived it right, and he is amazed at how fast time goes by when you live it right. That's the moral of the song, live your life as best as you can, don't lat anything destroy you or beat you down, fight the pain, use it, and live an amazing life, it's there for the taking. So take it.

I believe part 1 simply explains, some of the best people have the worst lives "There's a glow of light, the St. Jimmy is the spark in the night" St. Jimmy is the person who helped save who ever that part of the song is referring too. BUT, "Jimmy died today, he blew his brains out into the bay" He just couldn't keep up with all the crap and troubles so much that just overloaded and shut down (in this case... Suicide) part 2, (flash back in Jimmys life before suicide) I think that this is St. Jimmy as a younger man dreaming of what he could be and what he wants in his lifetime, obviously it didn't happen, but in the process in saving the one(s) in part 1 he lived his dreams in a third person kind of perspective.part 3, This is Jimmy in a point where he has been betrayed and forgotten by his group of "friends" now he is so angry, and absolutely depressed, it may have inspired him to help the weak (part 1) Part 4, Jimmy is living the life in his own sense as best he can, it seems he enjoys it, that's simply it. Part 5, Jimmy may miss his old life a little bit, so he tries to go back but it doesn't work from all the fame he has acquired and it may have hurt him in a way. So he can just remember and use his imagination to get back to his past, this hurts him more. The ending of the so his the end of his life, remembering the pains and regret from so long ago pushes him to his breaking point and he ends it (part 1) it's a good song if you listen to it a lot, but sad.

Honestly... This song has a hidden beauty to it. It sounds horrible and suicidal (it is) BUT, if you listen it explains the troubles and pain some of us go through (and I'm a prime example) no one understands how you feel, so you just want to end it all. And the using of the knife.... If you say you just do it to take the edge off your telling lies. Your an attention whore. You do it cause that's how your gonna end it, most people realize it's a stupid decision and stop. Anyway! The actions you take also effect others even if you don't know it, "mama feels guilt, yea mama feels pain" because daddy didn't stay, mama blames herself for the pain and confusion you went through, and how it may end. Every action taken in this world will effect someone, don't make it a bad effect. Find another way. Someone loves you. I'll be your friend if you need it.

I think this song I about losing someone you are close too, or something that would break you down if you lost it. Feeling the pain and agony grip you, you wonder why does it have to be this way? Trust me, it sucks. But you learn to ignore and overcome this pain. It's amazing, the world is more and more beautiful after every time you heal. This song will really capture that feeling if you haven't ever felt this before. There is a hidden meaning in this song, just listen and remember you loved one(s) I'm sure they miss you too.
