You say sorry just for show
If you live like that, you live with ghosts
This person apologizes, but only to get people off their case. They're not apologizing because they're sorry. So, Taylor warns: "If you keep that up, everyone's going to realize what's really going on and not like you anymore", since the saying goes to live with ghosts requires solitude.

So, no one really knows about this one, trust me I've been trying to understand it for forever. We're just gonna have to accept it how it is.

She won't bore anyone to death, if that's what you're worried about. Shaki knows that there's a a time to stop talking and do something she'll know they'll enjoy: kissing.

She feel for all his tricks, she got so caught up in thinking about him and their future, she didn't stop and think about what's going on in the present. She then blames herself, because she feels she should have known what was going on. I'm so naive, imagining and all that.

Shakira is saying that she's got such a bright future now, it's hurting her eyes. Things are really going her way, and everything seems great! Too bad it hurts to look at!

Laying golden eggs
This is a reference to fables that include geese laying golden eggs (for me, Jack and the Bean Stalk comes into mind). Like the geese, these golden eggs (cash money) are being laid/made rather effortlessly, and everyone wants some.

Here Shakira's basically saying that nothing can keep them from being together. You can have them grow up hundreds of miles apart, but they'll still find each other. It seems funny to them how anything would try to be a barrier between the two, since their love is clearly inevitable. Es inevitable.

Explanation
"
I've got my baggage
And you've got yours
Having "baggage" is carrying around old problems, fears, habits, and/or more. Everyone has their own baggage they carry around, and it can be a burden in relationships. This could also refer to packed bags since the song later references broken hearts, signifying their relationship has been damaged, since bags are packed and ready to leave.

Oh, baby,
How we used to dance
I couldn't separate from your hands
Now they don't even play that song anymore
Everything has changed. They used to be so in love, and now they're so... not. It's totally different. The use of saying "they don't even play that song anymore" is to emphasize how different things are now than before.

You would let me go
You will
Eventually
'Cause you just don't care about me
If he cares about her, he would know to let her go earlier on so she doesn't get more attached and like him more. This way by not spending a lot of extra time before he cuts her out of his life and he becomes an important character in her life, it'll less the pain of splitting up rather than having her grow even more found of him. He'll let her go though, because he doesn't even care about her so why would he waste a lot of his time with someone he doesn't care about?

If you think about it, this relates back to Can't Remember to Forget You with Rihanna. In that song, Shakira talks about a relationship that's not working out. She knows he's no good for her but she still has feelings for him, and won't break things off. Here's where we get You Don't Care About Me from. Shak's been putting all the effort into the relationship and it's not working out, like in CRTFY. Since Shakira "keeps forgetting she should let him go", he decides to terminate the relationship, and here in this song are the results of that.

Should have never helped
You become so powerful
She "helps him become powerful" by falling hard for him. He became the center of her world so had power over her, including her feelings and hence now he can make such a big impact on her. He now has the power to knock her down or step all over her. Someone you care a lot about has a big influence in you life, which is why fighting with a family member, friend, significant other, and/or crush is such a big deal. If it was anyone else they'd just be a hater and it wouldn't matter.

En una boda, dos personas (uno y uno) se convertirán en uno en el matrimonio. Pues, uno y uno no son dos, pero uno. / "Because one plus one isn't always two" (Porque uno y uno no siempre son dos in Spanish) is referring to when two people become one in marriage.

And if I mess up everything
someday
I won't hide my head in shame
'Cause you are the one thing that I got right
Shaki's saying that even if she screws a bunch of stuff up, she'll till be proud of her accomplishments because he (although it is written about her first child, it can be interpreted for the baby or a lover) is the one thing she didn't mess up, and that choice and victory triumphs all her mistakes.

Doing circles
In the dark with a broken compass
Shakira lost all sense of direction, and is confused with what her life means. Her compass is broken (which may also mean her moral compass) so she gets lost, wondering around in the dark (not being able to see things or see them clearly) aimlessly. She's doing circles and doesn't know how to get herself out of this mess.

Madonna's new boyfriend praises her and makes her feel good about herself. She grows fond of him and hence begins to trust him completely. However, Madonna does not know what's going on behind closed doors, and soon finds out that he has other motives and was just using her. This "lover" hurts her when he'd least expect it.

They say "l'amour est ne a Paris"
So she's planned a little trip to France
L'amour est né à Paris is French for Love is born in Paris. The girl who Shakira's ex (she still hasn't moved on from him) is dating arranged for them to go to France in order to hopefully force love quickly. It could also mean love - as in a love child or baby - will literally be born in France, since she's mentioned him "knock(ing) her up" in previously in the verse and since Paris is the city of romance and love.

Better than to sail on the Mediterranean Sea
Shakira plays with Arabian references throughout the song lyrically and musically, due to her Lebanese heritage. The Mediterranean is a beautiful place and the sea's coast stretches from a variety of beautiful countries from Spain, to Italy, Lebanon, France, Egypt, Greece, Morocco and more. Sounds pretty exiting to sail the good old Med, right? Well, Shaki' saying what they have is much better.

You don't have to rub a lamp
'cause I'll take care of you
Rubbing a lamp is usually done to summon a genie (you only have three wishes, so choose carefully!). Shakira is telling her love that he won't need to do so because she is here to come to the aid of all of his needs, no matter how extreme (hence summoning an genie) or little.
