ZZ Top – Heard It On The X lyrics

Do you remember
Back in nineteen sixty-six?
Country Jesus, hillbilly blues,
That's where I learned my licks.
Oh, from coast to coast and line to line
In every county there,
I'm talkin' 'bout that outlaw X
That was cuttin' through the air.

Anywhere, y'all,
Everywhere, y'all,
I heard it, I heard it,
I heard it on the X.

We can all thank Doctor B
Who stepped across the line.
With lots of watts he took control,
The first one of it's kind.
So listen to your radio
Most each and every night
'cause if you don't I'm sure you won't
Get to feeling right.

Anywhere, y'all,
Everywhere, y'all,
I heard it, I heard it,
I heard it on the X.

- Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill & Frank Beard

I heard the three guys would cruise around listening to a particular radio station. The station was close to if not on the other side of the border in Mexico. The station call letters had an X in them and was known as "The X". The "Little ole band from Texas"were very fond of X and as I recall the X had a way moving around so as to escape the FCC. Pursued because of the content which could be called questionable by the conservative faction in south Texas prevalent at the time I'm sure the guys took some of the things they heard and incorporated it into their own. Sound.
