I heard an old, old story
How a Savior came from glory
How He gave His life on Calvary
To save a wretch like me
I heard about His groaning
Of His precious blood's atoning
Then I repented of my sins
And won the victory

O victory in Jesus
My Savior, forever
He sought me and bought me
With His redeeming blood
He loved me ere I knew Him
And all my love is due Him
He plunged me to victory
Beneath the cleansing flood

I heard about His healing
Of His cleansing pow'r revealing
How He made the lame to walk again
And caused the blind to see
And then I cried, "Dear Jesus
Come and heal my broken spirit,"
And somehow Jesus came and brought
To me the victory

O victory in Jesus
My Savior, forever
He sought me and bought me
With His redeeming blood
He loved me ere I knew Him
And all my love is due Him
He plunged me to victory
Beneath the cleansing flood

I heard about a mansion
He has built for me in glory
And I heard about the streets of gold
Beyond the crystal sea
About the angels singing
And the old redemption story
And some sweet day I'll sing up there
The song of victory

O victory in Jesus
My Savior, forever
He sought me and bought me
With His redeeming blood
He loved me ere I knew Him
And all my love is due Him
He plunged me to victory
Beneath the cleansing flood

About two weeks ago my pastor took a few moments to touch on the words to some of the modern songs we sing at church. He said to really listen to what the words were saying, the beautiful meaning behind the words. I absolutely love the songs we sing. I got to thinking that while I absolutely love the modern songs I also love the meaning of the words to the older songs...For example this song..."Victory in Jesus".... is one of those older beautiful songs...The words say so much. I would love to sing one of the older, beautifully written songs even if it was done with out music. We are so blessed at Northwest Christian to have such a talented worship team that lead us in worship and praise to God thru song every Sunday. I believe that one old song mixed in with the new songs would be very enjoyable to God's ear. God laid upon my heart to find one of those old songs so I found it and thought I would share, and so here it is...beautiful words for sure.
