Uno, dos, tres, catorce
(Turn it up loud, captain)

Lights go down
It's dark, the jungle is
Your head can't rule your heart
I'm feeling so much stronger
Than I thought
Your eyes are wide
And though your soul
It can't be bought
Your mind can wander

Hello, hello (?Hola!)
I'm at a place called Vertigo (?D?nde est??)
It's everything I wish I didn't know
Except you give me something
I can feel, feel

The night is full of holes
These bullets rip the sky
Of ink with gold
They twinkle as the boys
Play rock and roll
They know that they can't dance
At least they know

I can't stand the beats
I'm asking for the check
The girl with crimson nails
Has Jesus around her neck
Swinging to the music
Swinging to the music

Hello, hello (?Hola!)
I'm at a place called Vertigo (?D?nde est??)
It's everything I wish I didn't know
But you give me something
I can feel, feel

(Checking it)
(Shadows fall)
(She'll make it)

All this, all of this can be yours
All of this, all of this can be yours
All this, all of this can be yours
Just give me what I want
And no one gets hurt

Hello, hello (?Hola!)
We're at a place called Vertigo (?D?nde est??)
Lights go down, and all I know
Is that you give me something
I can feel your love teaching me how
Your love is teaching me how
How to kneel, kneel

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Vertigo starts off being about how rock 'n roll singers being drunk and getting their Spanish wrong and also going over how many albums U2 has made at that point which is 14, at the time they did Vertigo.

Then, turn it up loud is Bono instructing the sound guy off stage to turn up the volume of the microphone and instruments so the crowd can hear the music.

The lights go down and the band (U2) is ready to play. The jungle is the crazy loudness of the crowd filling up your head but Bono and The Edge know that the noise can't rule your heart which is in tune with the lyrics. The lead singer feels he is in control of putting on a good show and that is what is meant by the lyrics I feel so much stronger than I thought. Your eyes are wide has to do with the people in the crowd being so into the band on stage. Though your soul can't be bought is a reference to your commitment to God and your mind wanders is about you being human thus being easily distracted in this crazy world.

The chorus is about how the Band feels about what happens during their time being famous. They are at a place called vertigo which is the chaos of being on the road and surrounded by so much press and so many people wanting their attention in a negative way like women wanting to have sex with them knowing that Bono and The Edge are married which is why they go on to say it is a place I wish I didn't know.
But their faith in God is what keeps them in check and that is why they go on to say but you (meaning God) give me something I can feel (unconditional love that the world can't offer)

The night is full of holes and the bullets rip the sky of ink and gold has to do with the concert being quite a spectacular show for the crowd.

I can't stand the beats, I'm asking for the check has to do with the band not being happy with their performance and just wanting to get off stage but they zoom in and see a woman with crimson nails with Jesus around her neck swinging to their music and it is worth it then for them to stay on stage because people like her are happy and having a good time in this crazy world hence the lines where they talk about checking it (the crowd) shadows fall (the night is darkening) she'll make it (that woman with Jesus around her neck will be alright in this crazy world).

All of this can be yours, just give me what I want and no one gets hurt is about Bono and The Edge saying you can have their fame and fortune but they would much rather have your joy that comes from God and would fight for it.

At the end of the song, Bono and The Edge (outspoken Christians) say to God "Lights go down and all I know is you give me something. I can feel your love teaching me how, how to kneel, kneel."

Yeah, yeah they say out of excitement about God's love!
