Hold the line
Never retreat
And never break

I've tried, but
I'm addicted
I can't lie
Another step is in my sight.
Another step I'll see the light

I waited for you
I waited so long
Told you before
Can't take it anymore
I waited for you
I waited so long
I'm not coming home

Dreanched in words
You tell me that I'm
Empty cuz you know
It hurts

Her eyes spilling
Out what's real
Have I not held
Back the fight?

My body racing out tonight

I waited for you
I waited so long
Told you before
Can't take you anymore
I waited for you
I waited so long
I'm not coming home

I feel all alone

Take it slow
You tell me sweetie
Rest here with me
Don't move
I'll fight you back
You won't expect it
Now I have to leave you

I waited for you
(I waited so long for you)
I waited so long
(You promise me the world when you returned)
Told you before
(You come back empty handed?)
Can't take you anymore
(You think I'll be waiting for you?)
I waited for you
(You better think again)
I waited so long
(And you better wake up)
I'm not coming home
(Because you were wrong)

I waited for you
I waited so long
Told you before
Can't take you anymore
I waited for you
I waited so long
I'm not coming home
I feel all alone
(I waited for you)

I've always waited for you
But don't expect to see me now
Your little plan fell through
Tell me what's wrong with you
(I waited for you)

I've always waited for you
(I waited so long)
But don't expect to see me now
(Told you before)
Your little plan fell through
(Told you before)
Tell me what's wrong with you

Actually syd duran posted a blog of the meaning and this song is about her waiting to get into the music industry and realising that she has to take hold of her own dreams not wait for them to come true.

It's about a girl who was waiting for her love to come back to her even after he's hurt her, all because he promised, but now she's telling him, that she's done waiting, and she's never gonna come back to him.

Even though she wrote to illustrate her anxiousness to get into the music industry and how she would have to commit to herself rather than other people to make her goals come true, this can also portray the story of a girl who has been waiting for a guy to commit to their relationship, but in realizing he will not go that extra mile with her that she needs to move on. The guy basically keeps her in this in this roller coaster ride that just seems to get her nowhere and can't seem to either make their relationship develop into something more serious or simply just end it so that she can look for other opportunities (intro of the song "hold the line, never retreat, never break") i guess that is what is so beautiful about music, you can make it mean whatever you want it to...
