He wears his heart safety-pinned to his backpack
His backpack is all that he knows
Shot down by strangers whose glances can cripple
The heart and devour the soul

All alone he turns to stone
While holding his breath half to death
Terrified of what's inside
To save his life
He crawls like a worm from a bird
(All alone)
(Crawls like a worm from a bird)

(He's one minute...)

Out of his mind away
Pushes him whispering:
"Must have been out of his mind..."
Mid-day dillusions of pushing this
Out of his, head
Make him out of his mind... (out of his mind)

All alone he turns to stone
While holding his breath half to death
Terrified of what's inside
To save his life,
He crawls like a worm...
(Crawls like a worm)
Crawls like a worm from a bird

(All alone)
Crawls like a worm from a bird
(All alone)
Crawls like a worm from a bird
(All alone)
Crawls like a worm...
Crawls like a worm from a bird...

All he knows
If he can't relieve it, it grows...
And so it goes...
He crawls like a worm...
(Crawls like a worm from a bird)

Out of his mind away
Pushes him whispering:
"Must have been outta his mind!"

All alone he turns to stone
While holding his breath half to death!
Terrified of what's inside
To save his life
He crawls like a worm from a bird!

All alone he's
Holding his breath half to death! (holding his breath half to death)
Terrified to
Save his life
He crawls like a worm (crawls like a worm)
Crawls like a worm (crawls like a worm)
From a bird...
(All alone)
Crawls like a worm from a bird
(All alone)
Crawls like a worm from the bird
(All alone)
Crawls like a worm...
Crawls like a worm...
Crawls like a worm from a bird...

It means that this "person" is all alone..."his backpack is all that he knows" because nobody else is close to him. And because of that he starts going crazy. Like when it says it whispers hes out of his mind"

This song in my opinion is about love
this guy doesn't want to fall prey 2 it so he detatces himself from it hence [safely pinned 2 his pack pack]
    he guards it against prey
but by doing so he is depriving himself of all the gud luv can bring. And is described as stone (without luv ur cold, i guess)
his behaviour is described as a worm the bird luv. Depicting both his fear and desire to avoid it at all cost. He runs away to avoid become another victim of luv. This too can cause him to become paranoid
(trying 2 escape, but in reality it's doing more harm than gud)
he is dying slowly (luv less and alone), growing cold alone [ [all alone he turns 2 stone]. I think he is also stuggling with himself. Fighting - trying to resist temptation.

It's about him not wanting to feel (the brid is the feelings), and only trusting himself.
Although, they could have thought of a better metaphor.

I like this song and I aslo like the chorus :) But I think it means that he's running away from something... I think.
