Love Comes Tumbling lyrics

Songwriters: Mullen, Larry (jr); Hewson, Paul; Evans, Dave; Clayton, Adam

Love don't need to find a way
You find your own way
I forget that I can't stay
And so I say that
All roads lead to where you are
All roads lead to where you are

The seed is spilled, the bed defiled
For you, a virgin bride
Hide yourself in someone else
Don't find yourself in me

I can't lift you up again
Love comes tumbling down again

Love don't need to find a way
You find your own way
I forget that you can stay
And so I say that
All roads lead to where you are
All roads lead to where you are

The author of the song is a guy who loves a girl and really wants to be with her, but for whatever reason he can't. So he gives her up, and eventually she marries. He's hurt, gravely, but realizes that she loves him, the author, and would totally be with him if she could, but for the time being she choses to be with her new husband to help mask and burry her feelings for the author of the song.

At this point he totally tries to push her away and make her feel bad for marrying, but predicts the downfall of her relationship with her new man.

Ultimately the author knows that she loves him, as she always has, and will find her way back to him. When she does, all that has previously kept them apart has ceased to be an obsticle, and they are free to be together. This time, she stays with him. And as he always knew it would, their love for each other has lead them back to where they belong.

It's a sad song, though, because of all the pain and suffering that both parties had to endure. I think that the song is more about what the author was feeling throughout this time, rather than the happy outcome.
