No, I didn't see this one coming
Suddenly it snuck up on me
I can't say you didn't tell me so
I can'y say you didn't warn me

Well I can't take the pain
Of knowin that I left you
And I can't bear the shame
Of knowin I was wrong
But I'll take the blame
For everything that I've done
But I can't take the pain
Of leavin you alone
Leavin you alone...

Well I was there when they accused you
But I guess I was too afraid
Not just once, and not just twice
But three times I denied your name

Well I can't take the pain
Of knowin that I left you
And I can't bare the shame
Of knowin I was wrong
But I'll take the blame
For everything that I've done
But I can't take the pain
Of leavin you alone
Leavin you alone...

I never thought I'd get
Even a second chance
But you've given that and so much more
And then for every time
I ever did deny
You asked me if I love you
You know I do, Lord

So I'm off to follow in your steps
It won't be easy it's safe to say
Only two roads I can walkin on down
The one less traveled is the one you paved

Well I can't take the pain
Knowin that I left you
And I can't bare the shame
Of knowin I was wrong
Lord, I take the blame
For everything that I've done
But I can't take the pain
Of leavin you alone

But you took the pain
Even though I left you
And you took the shame
And you made it all your own
Why'd you take the blame
For everything that I've done
Lord, you took the pain
You and you alone
You and you alone
You and you alone...

In the new testament when simon-peter had abandoned and denied when asked if he knew jesus christ the son of god at christ trial. In that same night before the arrest of jesus, peter stated (in a nutshell) that he would never deny him and christ said that peter would have denied him 3 times before the rooster crowed. And peter did so, and realized what christ was saying. After the great resurrection, christ asked peter if he loved him 3 times ( the same amount of times peter had denied him) and peter answered yes lord. The reasoning for that was to restore peter's sins with forgiveness. What a beautiful song to show peter's remorse and christ forgiveness. Well written song.

Thank you Jesus for taking the punishment of my sin upon your shoulders and taking those stripes on your baack for my healing so that I don't have to take the pain of that on myself. I can walk in victory forever and ever and all the days of my life.
