Tech N9ne – Slave lyrics

Deep song. The traditional negro spiritual portion of the song blew me away. I saw the link between what people have done to each other in the past, the color issues, the crime, the despair and the "root" of the "demons" this artist faces. I am 44, w/f. My eighteen year old son turned me on to tech a few years ago, but I found it a bit dark. And of course, that's what n9ne says he is about in some of his lyrics. After listening for a while, I'm a converted technician. His flow is real and it's clear that he means to put it all out there for everyone to see. I am so glad he has a sense of comfort from his success. May he have more of both. What he says about the drive for success, lust and money and the conflict that puts on his kids and his "best friend on the ex team" is profound. This song is about the struggle of life. The echoes of struggles of slavery - the "both then and now" of it, was awesome. Thanks tech n9ne.
