Starset – My Demons lyrics
Mayday! Mayday!
The ship is slowly sinking
They think I'm crazy but they don't know the feeling

They're all around me,
Circling like vultures
They wanna break me and wash away my colors
Wash away my colors

Take me high and I'll sing
Oh you make everything okay (okay, okay)
We are one in the same
Oh you take all of the pain away (away, away)
Save me if I become
My demons

I cannot stop this sickness taking over
It takes control and drags me into nowhere
I need your help, I can't fight this forever
I know you're watching,
I can feel you out there

Take me high and I'll sing
Oh you make everything okay (okay, okay)
We are one in the same
Oh you take all of the pain away (away, away)
Save me if I become
My demons

Take me over the walls below
Fly forever
Don't let me go
I need a savior to heal my pain
When I become my worst enemy
The enemy

Take me high and I'll sing
Oh you make everything okay (okay, okay)
We are one in the same
Oh you take all of the pain away (away, away)
Save me if I become
My demons

In my opinion not everyone has to agree. But I think the song might mean that he is suffering something and the "demons " is his sanity or voices in his head. Also there is one person in his life that he looks up to that understands and relates to him in some way were everyone else thinks he is crazy and passes on.

Another thing is that he is asking for help if his sanity or the voices in his head take over and he hopes that the person he looks up to well help him in some sort of way and try to give him the strength to get the "demons" away and that the person is the only one he feels safe with.

Now I just like the song and I can be TOTALLY wrong but this is my perception of this song I am not a fan this is just my interpretation of listing to the song and that's it. I hope I helped if anyone agrees with me there never that many people who do. So sorry that this is long but again hoped I helped.

I think this is about humanity's self destruction. The singer is "humanity", the sinking ship is "civilization", and the savior that he is asking for help from, is some "older, advanced life form" out there. Then "we are one In the same" means, that this advanced species has made the same mistakes, and has had to go through the same struggles humanity has suffered through, as a young species before finally evolving into the advanced race they have become.

So humanity fears self annihilation from a result of Its demons, aka "corruption and greed", and of course this prediction will separate humanity Into two, skeptics and believers. But the majority will be skeptic, and blow this "extinction/self destruction" theory off as just another crazy and wild speculation, "they think Im crazy, but they don't know the feeling". So In order to stop them from giving into their greed, witch will lead them into killing each other off. The advanced race needs to come forth and inform the skeptics on what greed and corruption will eventually lead too. I'm probably making It out to be more then what It really Is lol, idk. Its just my personal theory.

This song may possibly have something to do with bipolar disease or depression (in the sense of being uncertain of what his life may lead to).
It's a truly beautiful song. I believe Starset did a wonderful job capturing the hidden meanings and poetry in this song!

I think the song is connected to a deep rooted loath for yourself. When he is talking his demons and save him from them, it's as if he is saying, "Save me from what I am slowly becoming". He also doesn't want to be left alone, hence "Don't let me go". He doesn't want to be left alone, because that means he will be left with his thoughts which it what is "demons" and if he let the demons take over he will become his worst enemy.

This is truly a great song, because it can be taken anyway.

This song remind me a lot to soul in Soul Eater anime/manga and the story he learn how to deal with the demons inside his mind and his social phobia but the main character Maka always help him to hearing his heart and he not fall in madness and darkness. By the way this song is so good.

I think It is about the unknown outhere, the universe. And that whatever we do we somewhat have the universe to guide us and help us through the pain and struggeling. After all, universe is the birth of everything and the start of life. I think we are more connected to the stars and universe than we know. And some people just have that feeling and intuition and feel the vibes. And I think he explains some kind of social fobia, describing the people as vultures, and his thoughts.

I think it's about how humanity keeps making the same mistakes over and over again due to our tendency to listen to what our demons tell us to do, and about how our demons will continue to make hell on earth until a higher life-form, dare I say Christ himself returns to sucker-punch evil in the jaw. I think that the chorus is meant to explain how without him, the human race cannot help but destroy ourselves as we become the very demons (wrath, greed, corruption, envy, etc) that plague us. In a nutshell, I think it's a warning of what will happen as this world becomes more and more consumed by evil.

To me this song is about how, well how should I explain this. I'll explain it in a younger sense and hopefully you all would be able to understand. Like your this one person on the outside and you have an inner demon. All these people are bullying you or making fun of you. Trying to break you mentally and emotionally. And you want to escape this torture and only your inner demon can help you but you don't want your inner demon to come and take over you. To raise that demon from within. As if you aren't there, you aren't in control. Your inner demon is in charge. You can't escape it wants you. In this sense it's exactly how I feel. I also relate this to Ichigo from the anime/manga Bleach. Since he has the hollow inside him and he doesn't want it to escape. His inner demon is the hollow in a way. By 'take me high' I think he means death or insanity. But that's what I think and feel. I used to be suicidal. My inner demon says I still am and if I told my friend the truth she'll say I have schizophrenia since she knows I "used" to hallucinate about ghosts. But, this all my opinion, it could be totally wrong. Sorry if it is and sorry for any grammer mistakes- other me: Like I fuckin care-.
