Take a step off of that silver bird from your planet
And you brought a little bit of that cold with you
Now wring me out like you would your bastarding father
And you're so quick to stick to that scum
Hungry like a piranha

Swallow a little of that sea
Now taste a little bit of the salt in me
Throw up a little bit of it on your knees
Now doesn't that bring you back to the beginning?
Before you poured your elements away
Now sink back to the bottom of it all

Seal your lips with the black stitch of a secret
Parade with that speechless dryness of the desert air
Lay flat under the lime light you feed off all the fiction
Cold callus and boiled between the bleak deep of your dirty hands
Kiss your son now kiss your bible
And you know I never wanted to see your face
I just wont believe it

Swallow a little of that sea
Now taste a little bit of the salt in me
Rub a little of it on your knees
Now doesn't that bring you back to the beginning?
Before you poured your elements away
Now sink back to the bottom of it all

Swallow a little of that sea
Now taste a little bit of the salt in me
Throw up a little bit of it on your knees
Now doesn't that bring you back to the beginning?
Before you poured your elements away
Now sink back to the bottom of it all

I think it's about seeing someone he hasn't seen in a bit maybe. The 'silver bird from your planet' i think is a metaphor to an airplane bringing someone from a place so different or isolated it's a different planet to him. Or perhaps he's the one stepping off the plane from the world he's been living in as an artist, seeing someone like an alcoholic mother and these are her thoughts...

The 2nd verse seems to be pretty obviously referring to a guilty secret unspoken and disguised by pretentiously righteous acts like loving your children and worshiping the lord. Meanwhile the speaker feels forced to have to meet with or interact with this person. Knowing that sonny found out in his late teens he was adopted and that his parents were not his real parents, it makes me wonder if it's about to his birth mother. Especially the line about the bastarding father.

Also the chorus - the salt in me - could be a reference to the shared genetics he has with her, with the elements being poured away a reference to him being giving away for adoption. As if to say in meeting each other she was reminded of thier connection and the fact that he was her son. Although all of this is guesswork and on the other hand, it does sound a bit like it's about a weird bj. :)

Sonny moore is one of my favourite singer's because of one thing. His lyrics. They mean one thing but they can mean a totally different thing, acoording to another person. Personally i think that tied into the lyrics sonny is trying to explain sexual abuse. Or it could be about someone betraying another. Another possibitly is that there were 2 people adn they both loved each other... Or so they though but one of them lied and abused the other's trust. I love you sonny moore!
