Maybe somewhere else
Will not be half as cold as me
The curtains drawn the winter sun
Makes patterns on your face
It looks like some kaleidoscopic breathing exercise

It's the same
It's the same
It's the same
Baby wont you breathe
Baby wont you breathe

Hold me in your freezin' arms
Before we have to go.
I wince a little, but it's not because I know the truth
The windshield of your little car is frosted through the glass
A clear heart of air appears as we shiver on the seats

It's the same(It's the same, the same)
It's the same
It's the same

It's the same(It's the same, the same)
It's the same
It's the same

Treat it as a test
Treat it as a test
Baby wont you breathe
Baby wont you breathe
It's the same
It's the same
It's the same

It's the same (It's the same, the same)
It's the same
It's the same

They're singing about the meaning of life.

On pondering the idea one might simply die, and leave this existence, they get an answer from the universe, the absolute consciousness.

The answer says, "hey, maybe if you leave, it won't be as bad (cold) as here" (meaning living here in this existence) - that as i look at you, living your life, through the seasons, as my light shines on your face, you life looks like an exercise of breathing.

"it's the same" is saying that if you leave, if you die and leave this experience, where you go will be a lot like here, it will "be the same". You'll have to start over, learn what you need, and live again until you get it right.

"baby wont you breathe" is the universe asking you not to go, the admission that the universe needs you as much as you need it.

The voice says you're cold to leave, mean even to decide not to live, not to thrive in this experience. It's also the admission that the same ignorance that you feel, deciding to die, to leave, is shared by the author, they're not sure either. The car is the metaphor for the vehicle taking us through the journey, as we are bodies taking us through our lives.

Repeating "it's the same" is like a mantra, the message the universe is trying to tell you to not to leave, not to die.

"treat it as a test" is the most heartening and uplifting message you can be given, it's the explanation for suffering, for pain, for all the reasons you want to die - that all you have to do is reshift your vision to understand that through all this pain and suffering, we're not actually being tested, but we can treat it like a test, just like a school test, taken the combination of you and the universe together.
