If you were here beside me,
Instead of in New York
If the curve of you was curved on me

I'd tell you that I loved you
Before I even knew you
'Cause I loved the simple thought of you

If our hearts had never broken
Well there's no joy in the mending
So much this hurt can teach us both

There's distance and there's silence
Your words have never left me
They're the prayer that I say every day

Come on come out come here come here

Come on come out come here come here

Come on come out come here come here

Come on come out come here come here

The lone neon lights
And the heat of the ocean
And the fire that had started to spark
I miss it all from the love to the lightning
And the lack of it snaps me in two

If you were here beside me
Instead of New York
In the arms you said you'd never leave

I'd tell you that it's simple
And it was only ever thus
There is nowhere else that I belong

Come on come out come here come here

Come on come out come here come here

Come on come out come here come here

Come on come out come here come here

The lone neon lights
And the want of the ocean
And the fire that had started to spark
I miss it all from the love to the lightning
And the lack of it snaps me in two

Just give me a sign
There is end in a beginning
Til the quiet chaos driving me mad
The lone neon lights
And the want of the ocean
And the fire that had started to go out

A relationship that was going great (fire that had started to spark) went long distance. Through all of the aches, pains and wantings... Sadley, due to long distance realities, the fire started to go out.

Just heard it tonight, it longs for living in the moment, and doing all that you can to confirm love whether by plane, car, foot, touch, phone, email, facebbook, letter, song, poem, thought.

A man has a meaningful connection w/ a woman who is in new york. He is in another country, an ocean separates them. Alluded to is the two of them separated by different worlds, and a great hurt between them that he so very much wants healed. It sppears that he is saying to her the words at one time she said to him: come on come out come here come here. They had love, they had just started their romance, she made promises from her heart to him, he wants her. This is a song where he is as transparent as possible to what he is thinking, desiring, even mourning. The loss of all they had and the promise of of more is snapping him in half. He needs some sign from her, and until them that silent wordless chaos within him for her churns on.
