You can’t quit until you try
You can’t live until you die
You can’t learn to tell the truth
Until you learn to lie

You can’t breathe until you choke
You gotta laugh when you’re the joke

There’s nothing like a funeral to make you feel alive

Just open your eyes
Just open your eyes
And see that life is beautiful.
Will you swear on your life,
That no one will cry at my funeral?

I know some things that you don’t
I’ve done things that you won’t
There’s nothing like a trail of blood to find your way back home

I was waiting for my hearse
What came next was so much worse
It took a funeral to make me feel alive

Just open your eyes
Just open your eyes
And see that life is beautiful.
Will you swear on your life,
That no one will cry at my funeral?

Just open your eyes
Just open your eyes
And see that life is beautiful.
Will you swear on your life,
That no one will cry at my funeral?

Just open your eyes
Just open your eyes
And see that life is beautiful.
Will you swear on your life,
That no one will cry at my funeral?

Just open your eyes
Just open your eyes
And see that life is beautiful.
Will you swear on your life,
That no one will cry at my funeral?

i know the song is about Nikki sixx getting off drugs and how its based off his book. he's saying that coming so close to ending his own life for good, he's learned how truly great life really is. and he's sending a message to others basically saying life is too valuable to risk over drugs and the things he's done. it took me a while to understand why he says "will you swear on your life that no one will cry at my funeral" and i think i've got it now. i think he means it rhetorically, knowing you cant promise that. meaning that people love you. no matter who you are someone in this world cares for you. and to play risk and get yourself killed doesnt only hurt you. the momentary pleasure from the drugs isnt worth it. Life is too beautiful to give up. at least thats what i got from it..

Whenever I'm feeling a little low, I listen to this song and realize that the hardships I'm experiencing are only going to make the happy times all the better, and that no matter what happens, life really is a beautiful thing.

Also, I'm reminded of Nikki Sixx's journey with drugs- and how basically being dead, among other trials in his life, really opened him up to see how wonderful the gift of life is. This fills me with even more hope.

    Congrats, boys.

this is a kind of a song that describes my life...
even though when i feel so desperate
and feel that i lost everything i have
i finally realize that life is beautiful

when you have lost it all that's when you finally realize that
    life is beautiful...
