Hes giving, and gave all of himself up for love.

but all he wants is himself.
He feels thats he best way to move on, just wanting himself.
he realises this isnt true.

what pain other than the loss of a loved one (which too in turn creates heartache) is worse than heartbreak?
Isnt a sure way of feeling like you're dying, when you're truly alive?

This song refers to how people confuse wants and needs, also how selfish the human race can be, always Iwant, Ineed, Give me. but also how futile greed is, because when you die it doesnt matter.

he is saying how poeple want so much from him and all wants is to have something to just to have someone there to be able to just be there not for something he has but just because they like to be around him.
