when he says " im stuck in a coma, stuck in a neverending dream" he means his life is horrible and he wants to believe hes dreaming of it. and when he says" someday i will wake up and realize i made up everything!" hes saying he wishes that someday he'll wake up from his nightmare of a life and realize nothing ever happened and his life will be good. but then he starts thinking thats never gonna happen he'll never wake up from his nightmare of a life, " i wont be saved".
I think maybe it means that the guy is stuck in a dream. He wants everything in his dream. But maybe it's not reality. Or maybe it is...honestly I don't know.
I see it a little differently... I feel a lot of pain and suffering emanating from the song, but not necessarily from a friend. I can't tell you why the song was written (so I can't say that you're wrong), but I get something different out of it.
The meaning of the chorus is..." I'm asleep and can't wake up right now. I will eventually and realize this is all just a dream. " The part that says " So, go fill up the glass with tonic rocks and gin and drink yourself to happiness " means " Go get drunk and forget about everything, including me. " Basically it describes a friendship gone wrong. " we can all hang ourselves from gold chandeleirs, and drink goodbye to all the pains and fears, loose lips have sunk this ship to a shallow grave, washed up upon the rocks. " Means " We can't save this, even if we were drunk, secrets that were supposed to be secret have ruined us, this friendship is ruined. " " i won't be saved " Means " I'm done with this. "
