Scott Alan – Kiss The Air lyrics

I think it's about looking at the bigger picture. Realising the person you love the most will do better without you. It's a very mature thing to be able to do, to stand and say, you need better than me. It's such a sad song though, brings me to tears. He doesn't want her to be upset about, he wants her to be happy and knows he can't give that to hr the way she deserves. It's beautiful.

My interpretation is that he loves this woman, but he has managed to hurt her - perhaps he can't give her everything she wants and realises this, and is letting her go to find her happiness without him. Saying "don't you dare watch me leave" implies he doesn't want her to be upset with his decision, and to not look back. But he will always kiss the air, because despite it all he still loves her.

My personal interpretation of this song is to let go of someone you love (even though the love is requited) because you want the best for them. Although you know that it will be heartbreaking for both of you once you're gone, you know that the one you love deserves better. They'll move on to a happier life and though it's without you, it's for the best. All you want is for them to be happy.
