If you believe there's nothing up my sleeve, then nothing is cool... Says it all ! We live in a world of deception, orwell said same. It's not the mib you have to worry about, its the men behind the curtain, the men in power...

"goofing" was a concept from the 60s and was a big part of what andy kaufman was about. He also had many other facets, one other of which, was a celebration of some of the cultural influences on children in the 1950s, such as howdy doody, mighty mouse, walt disney, etc. I think he both celebrated and cherished these as well as was freaked out by them; that people could accept these rather bizarre creations. He was also a game player. He liked to shake up people's complacency and he held a mirror up to them and their society. The song makes reference to many of these things. The games of youth. The icons of our science and culture which are the icons of our reality. The limits to which people are willing to believe and therfore to be fooled or goofed on. Asking andy if he is goofing on elvis is symbolic of the fact that one never knew if andy was serious, was honoring something, or was using it to totally goof on everyone. If one believes that there was nothing up andy's sleeve, then it is a very "straight" (and boring) world. The song honors these facets of andy kaufman.

Andy kauffman is only an innuendo to the point being made which is very ironic through your interpretation of the message

I believe it was meant to pull feelings of nostalgia from the listener, espescially ones from his era of life. And also the andy kaufman thing from below is a huge part. But most of the things mentioned in the song are from the 50's and 60's, as well as the actual moon landing which took place right at the end of the 60s. As well as the reference to st. Petersburg, formerly (it was either leningrad or stalingrad, i dont remember) which is a huge cold war reference.
