How long how long will I slide
Seperate my side I don't
I don't believe it's bad
Slit'in my throat
It's all I ever...

I heard your voice through a photograph
I thought it up it brought up the past
Once you know you can never go back
I've got to take it on the otherside

Centuries are what it meant to me
A cemetery where I marry the sea
Stranger things could never changed my mind
I gotta take it on the otherside
Take it on the otherside
Take it on
Take it on

How long, how long will I slide
Seperate my side I don't
I don't believe it's bad
Slit'in my throat
It's all I ever

Pour my life into a paper cup
The ashtrays full and I'm spillin' my guts
She wants to know am I still a slut
I've got to take it on the otherside

Scarlet starlet and she's in my bed
A candidate for my soul mate bled
Push the trigger and pull the thread
I've got to take it on the otherside
Take it on the otherside
Take it on
Take it on

How long, how long will I slide
Seperate my side I don't
I don't believe it's bad
Slit'in my throat
It's all I ever

Turn me on take me for a hard ride
Burn me out leave me on the otherside
I yell and tell it that It's not my friend
I tear it down, I tear it down
And then it's born again

How long, how long will I slide
Seperate my side I don't
I don't believe it's bad
Slit'in my throat
It's all I ever had (how long)
I don't
I don't believe it's bad
Slit'in my throat
It's all I ever

i think it is about drug addiction .. fighting personal demons, fears.. & to be one step closer to the edge.. to be in the bottom.. to be helped.. and then ..fall again with the same problem.. it is the fighting against oneself ..

It is about anthony's addiction. Ultimately, he wouldn't take back the experiences he had with drugs (i don't, i don't believe it's bad... ). He doesn't believe that drugs are inherently bad. He also describes how hard the journey has been for him and although he has overcome several times, it is never really gone - "turn me on, take me for a hard ride. Burn me out, leave me on the otherside. I yell and tell it that it's not my friend. I tear it down, i tear it down and then it's born again"

It's a song about the original guitarist as the guy below said. They were all addicts at one point and his death changed them, which in my opinion made them a better band. 'i heard your voice through a photograph' memories of him. Clear and simple. This song was to do with the original and best guitarist.

It refers to hillel slovak's (original guitarist) struggle with heroin addiction. He knew the only way to escape the addiction was to end his life "slitting my throat is all i ever had"... It references methadone treatment, which is given to heroin addicts in withdrawals "pour my life into a paper cup" methadone is given in a methadone clinic in the infamous paper cups.
