Radiohead – Electioneering lyrics

I will stop
I will stop at nothing
Say the right things
When electioneering
I trust I can rely on your vote

When I go forwards you go backwards and somewhere we will meet

Riot shields
Voodoo economics
It's just business
Cattle prods and the imf
I trust I can rely on your vote

When I go forwards you go backwards and somewhere we will meet

Well he has made the election process of getting votes a verb, hasn't he. That says it all. Great song, with great lyrics. "When I go forwards and you go backwards" is a dig at politicians (who are always trying to get somewhere) and a statement of what happens to some of us from their electioneering (we end up behind where we were before they take office). The opening lines are obvious. "I will stop. I will stop at nothing. Say the right things. When electioneering. The last line, I trust I can rely on your vote should be in quotes for this song as Thom is quoting all politicians everywhere.
