Somewhere in the end of all this hate
There's a light ahead
That shines into this...
Grave that's in the end of all this pain
In the night ahead,
There's a light upon this house on a hill
Living, living still
Their intention is to kill
And they will, they will

But the children are doing fine
I think about them all the time
Until they drink the wine
And they will, they will, they will

Somewhere in the end we're all insane
To think that light will
Save us from this pain that's, in the end all this pain
In the night there's a light upon this...

House on a hill
Living, living still
Their intention is to kill
And they will, they will
But the children are doing fine
I think about them all the time
Until they drink their wine
And they will, they will, they will

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh (2x)

I am not afraid
I won't burn out in this place
My intention is to fade
And I will, I will in this

House on a hill
The dead are living still
Their intention is to kill
And they will, they will
But the children are safe inside
Out of pocket, out of mind
Until they drink the wine and they will, they will, they will

Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh (2x)

Um. No. The house on a hill refers to st. Peter's basilica or the Vatican. The light that shines upon the grave is the grave of Peter. The living still are saints. The children are fine until they drink the wine refers when they become alter boys and get molested by Catholic priests. Their intention is to kill refers to the priests killing the children's spirit. Keep your children safe inside is self explanatory.

This song has meanings to me that might now actually be what the artist is going for but it's my interpretation. Like when it says "the living, living still" I don't see it as they are still alive I see it as they are leaving in one place. Never going anywhere and staying in their spot.

When the song continues with "their intention is to kill" I saw it as they are selfish and only in it for themselves and their happiness and will take down anyone to get to where they want to be.

The next part continues with "and the children are doing fine, I think about them all the time" which when I first heard the song I thought it was cheesy but now I see it as the children are still innocent. They are the ones that are moving, and when you think about them, you wish that you were that way still. That you think of them and wish that you were still that way, that you were still innocent.

The next part "until they drink the wine, and they will" I see as the wine representing sins and when they drink the wine, they lose their innocence. And then their forgotten, you don't wish to be like them anymore because now they are just like you, their broken. And saying they will is just saying it happens everyone. Sooner or later, everyone does something that makes them guilty. Guilty of sin and loss of innocence, and there's no stopping it.
