Did you know...it was all going to go so wrong for you
And did you see it was all going to be so right for me
Why did we tell you then
You were always the golden boy then
And that you'd never lose that light in your eyes
Hey you...did you realize what you'd become
And did you see that it wasn't only me you were running from
Did you know all the time but it never bothered you anyway
Leading the blind while I stared out the steel in your eyes
The rain fell slow, down on all the roofs of uncertainty
I thought of you and the years and all the sadness fell away from me
And did you know...
I never thought that you'd lose the light in your eyes [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/p/pink_floyd/poles_apart.html ]
It's about sid barrett, the original golden boy of pink floyd. This is a continuation of shine on you crazy diamond. Sid barrett died recently at his home. He was reclusive and was believed to be suffering from asperger's syndrome. He reached for the secret too soon, and lost the light in his eyes. So sad.
It's about sid barrett, the one that shine on you crazy diamond is about. He was the golden boy and he was the one who lost the light in his eyes. He died recently while being a re close at his home with asperger syndrome.
It's definitely about roger waters, but i don't think it's david gilmour resenting roger waters, but pointing out how roger waters' resentment of david was destroying waters' life. I don't think roger waters was able to cope with the fame of pink floyd. Watch and or listen to the wall, it's basically about roger waters being haunted by his childhood and further haunted by his fame. I wish to god they could work it out, and i hope that they are able to take stock of what they accomplished together. The entire division bell album seems to be david reaching out to roger, and roger running away from the idea of reconciliation.
It's fairly obviously all about roger waters and the resentment that gilmour had for him - roger being the previous lead of pink floyd. The fallout they had was huge. They still not over it... Played at live aid i think sometime recently but gilmour did not look at all happy... Hectic stuff that fallout. I am not sure what it was about - probably to do with gilmour believing roger had gone too far. And also not agreeing with the musical style... Final cut - gilmour refers to himself and the rest of the band as studio musicians for roger's work.
