[Verse 1]
When I was a boy
I didn't care about a thing
It was me and this world
And a broken dream
I was blaming myself
For all that was going wrong (going wrong)
I was way out there
On the wrong side of town
And the one's that I loved
I started pushing 'em out
Then I realized
That it was all my fault
[Chorus]
I've been looking for a lifeline
For what seems like a lifetime
I'm drowning in the pain
Breaking down again
Looking for a lifeline
[Verse 2]
So I put out my hand
And I asked for some help
We tore down the walls
I built around myself
I was struck by the light
And I fell to the ground
[Chorus]
I've been looking for a lifeline
For what seems like a lifetime
I'm drowning in the pain
Breaking down again
Looking for a lifeline
Is there anybody out there?
Can you pull me from this ocean of despair?
I'm drowning in the pain
Breaking down again
Looking for a lifeline
[Bridge]
You know a heart of gold
Won't take you all the way (all the way)
And in a world so cold
It's hard to keep the faith (keep the faith)
I'm never gonna fade away!!
Yeah!!
[Chorus]
I've been looking for a lifeline
For what seems like a lifetime
I'm drowning in the pain
Breaking down again
Looking for a lifeline
Is there anybody out there?
Can you pull me from this ocean of despair?
I'm drowning in the pain
Breaking down again
Looking for a lifeline
Agreed there. I personally like this song the best out of all of theirs, it has such a good message and has a lot more of a hopeful vibe than previous ones, like you said, Last Resort and such.
Lifeline tells you that there is help out there, but it's unlikely that people will know you need it unless you ask.
I love this song!!! And anyone who says that papa roach is selling out because they sound different doesn't deserve to listen to them. Everyone has the right to change and experiment!!
This song is so amazing though. They're saying essentially the same thing as before, but a little less suicidal...
Its almost like their music grew up with them. When they were still really young, they had songs like last resort, which expressed all the anger they were feeling. But now that they're older, they're still sending the same message, just in a different way.
