I close my eyes
The lantern dies
The scent of awakening
Wildhoney and dew
Childhood games
Woods and lakes
Streams of silver
Toys of olden days
Meadows of heaven
Meadows of heaven
The flowers of wonder
And the hidden treasures
In the meadow of life
My acre of heaven
A 5-year-old winterheart
In a place called home
Sailing the waves of past [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/n/nightwish/meadows_of_heaven.html ]
Meadows of heaven
Meadows of heaven
Meadows of heaven
Meadows of heaven
Rocking chair without a dreamer
A wooden swing without laughter
Sandbox without toy soldiers
Yuletide without the Flight
Dreambound for life
Flowers wither, treasures stay hidden
Until I see the 1st star of fall
I fall asleep
And see it all:
Mother's care
And color of the kites

I think this is about someone who dies, and ends up in heaven. At first, they think its amazing, perfect in every way, but overtime they see how it is only a mock of life, and how important some things that most overlook are, like the other side to "good. " however, the childhood theory someone else posted makes more sense.

The most wonderful music i've ever heard. It really catches my whole heart and soul.
I personally think it's about someone reminising about their childhood, remembering how things were. The 'meadows of heaven' could refer to the place where they grew up... Then in the break they mourn for the fact that that time is gone and they have to be an adult now. However, they still dream about the olden days... The whole theme of the music makes me think about this kind of thing, longing for something lost... I really adore this song!! Xxx
